Shanna L. Altrichter


Shanna Altrichter is an award-winning teaching specialist in sociology at the University of Minnesota Rochester. Her approach is centered on building relationships with students in and outside of the classroom, facilitating deep learning. She specializes in cross-disciplinary course instruction, providing students the tools to evaluate society and their place within it through multiple lenses. She is committed to developing students’ knowledge and empathy as they attain their degrees in health science and beyond.

Julianna Abel is a remarkably accomplished educator and researcher who has had a significant impact on undergraduate students and the undergraduate curriculum in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Abel has innovative approaches to teaching, is one of the most sought-after advisors, has a research program that engages large numbers of undergraduates, is passionate about increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in engineering, and has been a leader in academic program development in Mechanical Engineering.
