Capturing Multiple Ecological Levels where Adolescents of Color Experience Risks and Develop Resilience Against Racism
Adolescents of color experience racial/ethnic discrimination from various perpetrators, such as peers and law enforcement, and have culturally-informed assets to cope and develop resilience against racism. Juan Del Toro takes a multi-method, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approach to understand: Why distinguishing between perpetrators of racial/ethnic discrimination and racial/ethnic socialization matters for adolescent development; and how biomarkers of health and stress regulation may offer insights about youths’ resilience linked racial/ethnic socialization following encounters with racial/ethnic discrimination.
